About TARA Projects

TARA (Trade Alternative Reform Action) Projects was founded in the 1970’s with the objective of creating avenues of economic growth for economically disadvantaged artisans and craftsmen of Delhi and its surrounding areas. Encouraged by its initial success the project gradually extended its socio-economic and trade reform activities to the adjoining states, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan in Northern India. TARA is specialised in jewellery and homeware.

"Humanitarian assistance saves lives and must continue wherever needs arise. But when emergency tools become the long-term default, and entire generations remain trapped in dependency, we are not building sustainability. We must measure success by whether people can rebuild their lives."

Barham Salih, UN High Commissioner for Refugees
