About Tribal Textiles
Tribal Textiles is a social enterprise based on the edge of South Luangwa National Park in Zambia. Tribal Textiles creates ethically handcrafted products while strengthening their rural community by providing local artisans with opportunities, supporting conservation and investing in local initiatives.
For over 30 years, Tribal Textiles has made batik textiles. Today, they are one of the biggest employers in the Luangwa Valley, an area where jobs are scarce.
Refugee Artisan Group
Congolese refugees in the Eastern Province of Zambia work with Tribal Textiles to create woven home decor items. The artisans hand-dye raw materials – locally sourced natural fibers – and weave them together using a braiding technique.

"Despite the hardship they have endured and the horrors they have witnessed, the artisans we work with have retained the ability to laugh, have fun and look towards a brighter future. They really are remarkable, and the epitome of human resilience."
Kirstie Selfe, the founder of Tribal Textiles
